Custom websites

A website that sets you apart and brings in work, instead of just sitting online like a business card.

First we work out what the site needs to do for your business, and what everyone who lands on it should do next. Then we design it right in the browser and build it in code rather than a site builder, so nothing limits how it looks or what it can do.

We start with strategy. We agree who the site is for, go through your competitors’ sites and show you what’s working for them and what isn’t. Then for every page we decide what a visitor should do there: call, send an enquiry, book or download your price list. We either write the copy in full or polish yours, in as many languages as you need, and always with Google in mind.

We don’t send the design as pictures. You get a link to a working preview you can click through on any device, and you leave your comments right there in the browser. Every site also gets one signature element people remember it by, for example an animated hero, an interactive story, a configurator or a 3D model.

Because we build in code, the site is fast and doesn’t depend on dozens of third-party plugins that constantly need patching. The admin is built around exactly what you’ll edit, such as news, testimonials, the team, prices or events. And we think about accessibility from day one, not the week before launch, so people who use a keyboard or a screen reader can get around easily.

What’s included

  • Strategy and copy
  • A design you can click through
  • Code, not a site builder
  • Handover with every login

What you get

  • Strategy

We pin down what the site should achieve and who it’s for, review your competitors’ sites and decide what a visitor should do on each page. Only then do we start designing.

  • A design you can click through

You get the design as a working preview in the browser, not as a set of images. Click through it on any device and pin your comments to the exact spot they’re about.

  • A signature element

Every site gets something that sets it apart, for example an animated hero, an interactive story, a configurator or a 3D model. What we choose depends on what the site should say about you.

  • Code instead of a site builder

We build the site directly in code, so it’s fast and doesn’t rely on third-party plugins, which are a common way in for attackers. The admin has only what you’ll actually edit: news, testimonials, the team, prices or events.

  • Copy

We write all the copy or edit yours, in as many languages as you need, so people read it to the end and Google can find it.

  • Enquiries and bookings

Step-by-step forms, online booking (for example Calendly or Reservio), click-to-call or an AI assistant that answers common questions. We pick what suits your line of work.

  • Connections and analytics

We connect the site to the tools you already use, for example Mailchimp or Ecomail, HubSpot or Pipedrive, and your calendar. We measure traffic, for example with Google Analytics or Plausible, with cookie consent set up properly, so you can see where your enquiries come from.

  • Accessibility and technical SEO

We build to WCAG 2.2, so people who rely on a keyboard or a screen reader can get around the site too. Structured data, a sitemap and well-written page titles help search engines understand what it’s about.

  • Moving from your old site

We move your content across and redirect the old addresses to the new ones, so you don’t lose your place in search results or the links pointing to you from other sites.

  • Launch and handover

We set up the domain, hosting, a secure connection and email, so your messages don’t end up in spam. Then we hand the site over with every login and video guides, or you leave it with us and we keep looking after it.

What you end up with

  • A live website
  • Every login
  • The source code
  • An admin for your edits
  • Video guides
  • Access to your analytics
How we work

How a website comes together

Four steps from the first meeting to launch. You know the fixed price and the schedule before we start, and we send you regular progress updates along the way.

  1. Strategy

At the first meeting we pin down what the site should achieve and who it’s for. We review competitors’ sites, plan the site map and decide what a visitor should do on each page. We also agree who supplies the copy and photos, and by when.

    What you get

    • Goals and audience
    • Competitor review
    • Site map
    • Content plan
  2. Design and copy

We build the design right in the browser. You get a link, click through it on any device and leave your comments right on it. Meanwhile we write the copy in every language you need.

    What you get

    • A clickable design
    • Finished copy
    • Sign-off before the build
  3. Build

We build the site in code to the approved design, including the admin, the forms and the connections to your tools. You can follow along on a private preview link the whole time. If you have an old site, we move the content across and redirect the old addresses to the new ones.

    What you get

    • A private preview link
    • The admin
    • Connected tools
    • Content moved across
  4. Launch and handover

Before launch we go through everything point by point: devices, browsers, speed and accessibility. We set up the domain, hosting, a secure connection and email, so your messages stay out of spam. Then we hand the site over with every login and video guides, or you leave it with us and we keep looking after it.

    What you get

    • Pre-launch checks
    • Domain, hosting and email
    • Every login
    • Video guides

Frequently asked questions

We price every website on its own merits. The biggest factor is scope: how many pages there are, what extra features you need, and whether your copy and photos are ready. Two sites that look similar from the outside can differ in price several times over.

Fill in the short brief and within 24 hours we’ll send you a real price for your project, not a rough estimate. The price is fixed, and you’ll know it before we start work.

A smaller brochure site takes several weeks, a larger project several months. Once we’ve seen the brief we’ll give you a specific date, and we’ll stick to it.

When a deadline slips, it’s almost never because of the build. Usually we’re waiting for material: copy, photos, logins or sign-off inside your company. If you know the copy will be a struggle, tell us at the start. We can either write it for you or plan the schedule around it.

Yes, if you want to. You get an admin area for everything that will change, such as news, testimonials, your team or your price list, and you won’t need any coding to use it. At handover we show you where everything is edited and record a short video you can go back to whenever you like. If you get stuck, drop us a line and we’ll help.

You don’t have to make the changes yourself, though. On a monthly care plan you just tell us what to change and it’s done within 48 hours. If you only need the odd change, we’ll do it at our hourly rate.
